Obesity is now a bigger threat than tobacco

Many public health advocates believe the obesity debate is now where the tobacco debate was in the early 1970s and is the biggest public health challenge facing us currently.

According to the World Health Organisation (see article attached) an estimated 600 million, or 13% of adults, were classified as obese in 2014.

42 million children under the age of five were classified as overweight or obese in 2013.

It may be time to think more carefully about the type and amount of food we consume and, for parents, the food we purchase and prepare for our children.
